Hi everyone,

My wife's V50 has recently had its headlights replaced under warranty due to an unusual ( I assume) crazing/cracking of both lenses just in front of the main projector units. I have looked at every V50/S40 in the dealership and haven't seen a single one like it. It is as though the lenses have cracked through excessive heat or something. I was wondering whether with some of the really cold winter mornings the plastic was cold and then split when the headlights came on when the car was started. It was like a crazing of the plastic over a 10cm2 area on both lenses.

I was wondering whether anyone else had seen this?

Her car is a sept 2005 2006my car.

Belts outside to check lamps.... NO crazing on mine 2005 April reg S40 Diesel.

Wonder if it could be vandalism... no surely not..
Mine was driven from Cold half the winter at 5.00am, instant full headlights, and no signs of cracks?

Have you cleaned the headlight lenses or polished them with anything? Sometimes cleaning agents contain chemicals which are agressive towards plastics. Silicon cleaners and such like can cause some plastics to craze.
