Suddenly my AC compressor cuts in and out about every 2 seconds. Click click click, like that. I do cycle my air con all year but I have just returned from a month away, so possible gas loss??

It is usually an indication that you are in need of a regas. Normally the aircon should kick in/out approx. every 30seconds.

I would check your condenser (radiator looking thing at front of the car but for the aircon) as this is the most likely culprit if your losing gas.

Also could be that the 'gap' needs adjusting in the compressor clutch mechanism and that it is not latching properly. I think there's a fix where shims/washers are added to bring the two halves closer together.

Low gas level will give poor temps at the face vents (will struggle to get below 10 deg C) and the compressor will sound grumbly....eventually it won't work at all as a safe guard.

Thanks. Regas fixed it.
