Evening all.....

I've got my new discs etc coming tomorrow.....and before fitting next week i would like to paint the bells on the discs to stop them going rusty.

What paint should i use...? Caliper paint, or can i use something else...?

Answers on a postcard please...lol. Many thanks, DB.:)

I have always used 'Hammerite' on my discs and calipers, it is hard wearing with no adverse effects.

I've used a high temperature paint from RS on my discs and calipers, seems to work OK but needs re-doing after about 12 - 18 months. How long does Hammerite last?

I use hammerite as well. I did my T-5 over 2 years ago and they still look good.

OK

instead of "hammerite" would "smoothrite" not look nicer ?

just a thought

I just painted my calipers with halfords own brand brake paint, £10 a tin, and looks great, will be doing the bells at the end of the month with the same stuff.

Right got me paint for the Calipers & Bells.....Got it in my local hardware store.

Its, Hammerite Garden Metal Shades...lol, Its the same as Smoothrite.

Should be £13.99 for a 750ml tin....but got it for £1.99 in a sale...Bargain.

Went for Gunmetal Grey....Should look good with the Silver "R" stickers. DB. :)

Dicky,

Please post a snapshot when you're done. This sounds like a mod I could afford.

Sean, its just the bit of the Disc (how can you put it ..lol) that the wheel slides up to.....Its sort of bell shaped and allways goes Rusty, you'll know what i mean if you have a little look.

Cheers mate. DB.

Painted me Bells tonight....

2 coats of the Gunmetal Grey Smoothrite/Garden Shades..(its all the same)

OE Volvo discs already come with the Bells painted Black, but thought i'd do them the same as the Calipers (not done yet mind!).

All being fitted on Monday. And i'm going to try this brake fluid...
Castrol Response Super DOT 4 (as recommended by Engineer!)

Will take some B & A photos of it all aswell.....Nice !

I think the bell is the portion of metal or ali that supports the disk, i.e. the piece of the disk that is mounted on the hub.

I reckon it is refered to as a bell as it is concave in shape.
