My 121 failed its MOT last week on poor rear brakes on one side. Therefore I needed a drum puller which I didn't have. I posted on here looking to borrow one and had multiple offers which shows the friendliness of the forum. Amazonjulians was most convinient for me so I popped down and picked it up and was jealous of his lovely looking car.
Yesterday I popped the drum off the offending side and found quite a bit of oil around the shoes. I knew the half shafts weeped a bit of oil but there was quite a bit in there, probably because I recently filled up the axle which hadn't been checked for years!
So I did a bit of a bodge to get it through the MOT by just cleaning up the drum and linings with petrol and it managed to pass. I'm now going to get new shoes and half shaft seals and do those so it doesn't happen again. There seems to be numerous different half shaft seals, is there any way of making sure you get the correct ones and how difficult a job is it?

Also make sure the little breather tube on the top of the axle is clear.
