Hi everyone, and yes - this is my very first post in this forum so nice meeting you guys here.

I've just bought my very first Volvo, which is a 2010 Volvo V50 that uses the B4204S3 that is paired with a six-speed power shift transmission. As it is, it was love at first sight, and it helped me to continue on the tradition of owning a Volvo - as my dad used to be an avid Volvo enthusiast (though sadly he isn't really that avid like how he used to be, but he's looking for one modern example soon to replace his 850 saloon)

Besides that, I've just picked up the car two days back from an independent used car dealer - and now, I'm experiencing a heart-wrecking jerk with uneven revs when I engage the car into reverse (and occasionally in Drive as well). Being a dual-clutch, I have been leaving the car to creep by itself upon engaging any gears to avoid further problems, but with this happening right now, I hope it isn't an issue that relates to the Powershift transmission cause it will empty the bank dry :(

Though some of my friends do suspect a faulty throttle position sensor, and it even happens when I rev the engine during a standstill (where the revs do drop below 1000, emitting a cough-like sound, then reverting back to normal idle revs). Could it be related to anything else as well? Thanks for your help guys.

If you have just picked the car up from a main dealer, i would suggest you take it straight back and demand they sort it out. I assume there is some kind of warranty seeing you got it from a dealership?

Nope, bought the car from a used car dealer but it has a complete service history. Have consulted a Volvo specialist earlier and he says it's nothing major - recommending me to do a throttle body service along with the timing sensor.

The gearbox on the other hand alongside with the engine is healthy, as reported by him (which is a big relieve for me) and the car might have been sitting for a while at the lot awaiting for its next owner, citing that's one of the main reasons. So looks like I have to drive it a little harder to get rid of those pesky carbon deposits!

Anyways thanks for you reply and we shall see how for the following weekend when i get her a full diagnostics check :)

Still take it back to the dealer. there are laws that protect buysers from doggy dealers that used to try to Unload lemons on the not so wise.

In the UK it's very easy and also you have your credit card company if you payed anything on that you can then just do a 75 claim and the credit card company pays you back all the money your down then takes them to court for you.

Sorry maybe forget that just seen where your from

No worries, and yes - our consumer protection laws are a little brittle. Hopefully all goes on well by next week because I'd rather shed out a little money than going through the hassle of settling nitpicky issues like this that might cost me more.

Thanks for your concern! :)

Hopefully a throttle body clean up and maybe a new throttle position sensor will do the trick.

It might be a good idea to think about having the automatic gearbox fluid changed (maybe at a Volvo Dealer or a specialist) at 5 years old it will benefit the car and ensure good future service.

I hope so too Welton. Already have made an appointment with an authorised dealer for tomorrow's checkup and I'm just keeping my fingers crossed at this very point for no added problems! Might be collecting my new MY2011 grille that has the larger badge (which my current grille has the small-square logo) to give it a fresh twist as well. Anyways a diagnostic check is due too so will keep you guys updated
