DICE & VIDA Install

Hi Guys
First attempt at writing thread 😳

I have VIDA 2014A and am trying to load on win 7 Professional, 4GB NET 3.5 etc

But ... The install gets to unzipping the databases and fails ...what am I doing wrong ?

Vida can be a real PIA to install. It took me nearly a week to get it working. I also tried to install the 2014a version on windows 7 professional - just wouldn't work. Eventually gave up with that and created a virtual PC running XP and installed the 2013a version in that environment using this guide and the links contained in it.

It has run with no problems since.

You should get an install log in the VIDA directory (can't remember the exact path).

Have a look at it and let me know what you find...

I've just got VIDA working on W7 Prof but it took me a while, have a feeling the newer versions are very difficult, i am on a 2012 version i think.

What car you using it on?

Hi, thanks for replies.
Been on it for a week , so far !

Log seems to point at is.vow=false, which appears to result in databases not being load and then the dreaded 'Vida not ok' msg.

If i can get a version working , I'll be using it on a V50 MY2012, 1.6 D.

Even been looking for directory tree to see if i can load the components manually!

Any / all help gratefully received !

as its failed delete all from c:\programdata\volvo \vida
turn user account control off

try again or follow this pdf it has never failed me best to start with a clean install of windows as well

Nope...deleted all from c:\programfiles, checked uac was 'off' etc not running NET 4.x, have load SQLEXP before running install, don't have any other software or programs other than Win 7 Professional, reboot pc between every attempt ... It is runnning IE 11 though rather than IE9 ....

I don't get the Vida config screen mentioned in the pdf either..
So, deleted everything Dice, Isoview, Volvo Cars.... Re:ran install , several times,Still no joy....

As folk seem to be able to load 2013 software, where can i get acopy to try? I'm trying to load 2014A

remove the sql and let it install it from the dvd

Nope ....same result ...

Does it check screen resolution? I'm trying to load on a notebook ...

Yes it does it needs to be above 1024x768

just to let you know after reinstalling windows7 professional again tonight the pdf does work
