Hi I have had a little accident with my car. Quite a big rock which i didn't see decided to destroy my front bumper and break my air-con compressor.

After hitting it i stopped to check damage. the belt had come off the compressor and it had cracked a line. it started fine once I got back in to move it off the road. but cut out once I got it off.

I have replace the air-con compressor and all the belts but now it wont start.
It sounds like the starter is just spinning and not engaging. I have taken the starter out and taken it to be repaired. They said it was working fine but it could need the drive replacing. They have done that now and still no difference.

You can also hear a small bang sometimes when trying to start it.

Is there a crash reset if I have managed to set it off?
and what else could I try.

Two things spring to mind: the cambelt has slipped/broken (have you checked behind the cambelt plastic cover? and also you may have activated the fuel-cut switch in the impact.

Now I don't know where it's located but most cars have a fuel cut off in the event of a shunt.
