Brake dust above front drivers and passengers door

Today I was sure I could smell the brakes at times, but I wasn't 100% sure. Then later on, I noticed on the top frame of the drivers door a line of black brake dust about 30 cm long. It was almost the same on the passenger side front frame too. Any ideas what this is a sign off? The wheels do look covered in brake dust. We have only had our V50 1.6 D 2012 a couple of weeks and would have thought everything would have been checked and in perfect working order.

Any advice must appreciated.

Where did you buy it from?

Wondering if the garage has replaced the pads with some super cheap ones that is causing some excess brake dust?

Certainly not a problem with Volvo pads.
