Custom car for the Garmin navi units

Why would you have a square blue hatchback as your car on your navigation unit, when you can have a custom silver C30 (http://garmin.gps-data-team.com/get.php?download=O24/Vehicles/VolvoC30.zip&id=garmin&ID=vehicle) or a black S40 (https://app.box.com/s/28wzjlb1318iaihnxb7flis0wn8fmv1k) for your Garmin Nüvi.

The silver C30 works well for V50 and the newer V40 as well.

The link will download a .srf file. Copy the downloaded srf file to the 'VECHILE' folder in your Garmin. And while you are at it, how about a custom splash screen with a Volvo logo using RGN custom firmware..

How would I go about getting a custom splash sceen?

On many Nüvi units you can change the startup splash screen by simply adding a jpg to the JPEG folder on the SD card and change it from the menu. The jpg should be 480x272 for wide screen and 320x240 for non-wide screens.

If your Nüvi unit does got a picture viewer, like the popular 40/42 and 50/52 units, then you would have to do something about the firmware. Check out this "Wiki" (http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/GIR_Editor) for more information about how you can add your own logo to the rgn file.

I figured those custom cars could just be attached to a post here on this forum as zip files. Much more practical..

Thanks for the info on this; the C30 is white and matches my car perfectly.... ok it's silver but close enough!!!!!
