Hi fellow nuts.
Just taken Nobby on his first road trip.
396 miles from Ipswich to Tidworth and back last Saturday.
Went via A14,St.Neots,Milton Keynes,Newbury to the A303 at Barton Stacey, and returned via M3,M25 and A12.
There were various road closures, diversions, speed restrictions as well as some 80ish+ stints where there was room to do it.
Overall, computer showed just under 49mpg average.
£42 of diesel was used to refill when we got back(fresh as a daisy may I add).
I was happy with that.
Should I be ,or am I just easily pleased?
Regards Andy:thumbs_up:

Thanks for the replies guys.
I did start off with the best intentions of trying to get the max mpg out of it,but in the end the roadworks put that on the back burner.
Oh, and the numpty driving the 64 plate Bentley Continental GT,and an old boy in a 63 plate Merc 6.3 AMG who thought they owned the middle lane.
Love the torque of a diesel.

I've been letting my V50 (06) average mpg run since last June, done almost 7000 miles. From the start it averaged 47•3, and into the winter is now 42•2. My main reduction is because I have a climb up/over the Malvern Hills on a cold engine, and the engine temp just gets to normal when I arrive at work (5 miles) Otherwise its about 50/50 motorway/villages.
Don't think Volvo figure of 48•3 would be far out .

My 05 2.0l D (153k) runs around 44-45 in summer and drops to about 42-43 in winter. Mostly driven on a combination of A roads and rural so i'm quite content with that!

My latest tank was 520 miles from £51 (43.37 litres) but my commute is motorway at sub 60 mph. So I enjoy higher figure at the moment :)

I would be happy with your result and expect the same from my S40 in similar circumstances

Morning all.
The average mpg has been on since purchasing our V50 last December.
The wife commutes to Colchester during the week and the rest is town driving.
We have now covered 4000 miles at an average 44.6mpg.
Still smiling:thumbs_up:

I would be happy with that. On a 380 mile round trip from Oxfordshire to Devon via the M4/M5 and various twisty bits, I use about £40 of diesel. Can save a little bit by sub 70 driving but its absolutely boring.

Came home the other day via the A38, M5, A30/303 and a bit of the M4 and it was fun. Motorways are a tad boring and it took just 20 minutes longer than "normal" but was so much fun even in a 2 litre diesel.

So, your mpg was pretty damned good.

Ooh,I know that A303 well,as my son is based in Tidworth, and I have to agree with the fun factor of the 2.0D lump.
Big smiles.

I would love to get that MPG, I am getting low 30's at the moment, I think my first fuel up was about 36-7MPG but since I have gotten used to the car I have started to develop a lead foot, but I've not tested the motorway MPG yet as I only drive country lanes for work and back.

My 50 has levelled out at 44 combined. I'm happy with that quite honestly because on a run it does quite well over all.

2010, 1.6d Drive, over the last 9000 miles the car is averaging 66 mpg. 18 miles each way to work 5 days per week mainly M6 and M56 motorway. Best ever was 89 mpg for about 100 miles whilst returning from Bristol to Knutsford with a big tail wind with 2 people in the car. :-)

C70 D5 manual, not a lightweight car, but showing 46mpg average in the last 800-odd miles. My trip computer usually under-estimates the economy so I'm probably looking at over 47mpg when I next brim it.

During that mileage, a steady 65mph motorway run took it up from 46 to 48mpg, but then we went touring through the Cotswolds, which knocked it back down again. Happy enough with that though, as I got to use the loud pedal and the revs in the torquey 2-3k range rather more than usual :)

Just done a trip from Ipswich-Bletchley Park-Tidworth-Blenheim Palace-Winchester-Ipswich over 4 days,4 up,and loaded up.
Total of 565 miles, and didn't hang about either!!.
Few jams etc to contend with and the average mpg under my ownership is now showing 47.1 mpg.
The motor goes like a swiss watch:thumbs_up::thumbs_up: love it!

(2006 V50 2.0d) Just done 1 years motoring, and after just over 8k, got a average return of 47.8 mpg at 28 mph. Am very happy with that. I'm almost sure the previous owner had not reset the trip when I bought it, as it stayed on 50.3 mpg for a couple of months before I altered it.
