Just noticed odometer and clock stays on when ignition is switched off. I've a v40 1998 model should this happen

Is it still on the following day? On my V70 the lcd display stays on for a period after the ignition is turned off.

(and yes I'm daft enough that I just went out in the cold to check that :) )
