Ignition key barrel fault

Evening all we have a problem with my wife’s V50 ignition lock it’s not locking when the key is removed & there’s a message on the dash say “turn the steering and try again “ I’ve done that but still nothing all dash lights come on a when the key is turned but the starter doesn’t engage has anyone got any ideas as to hat this is many thanks for any help anyone can offer

lots of threads on this 9 times out of ten you have the change the barrel , if you search around some tell you put key into barrel turn all the way to start , hold there then tap the end of the key . quick search found this
