Hi folks, what recommendations for sealer, I believe Red Hermetite no longer available, need it for inlet / exhaust manifold replacements.
Thanks, Richard,

With new gaskets you shouldn't need a sealer. You may need to have your manifold surface skimmed. Which engine?

If I need it I use Blue Hylomar.

Made by Hermitite but I believe originally developed by Rolls Royce.

Thanks Whyman .
Arcturus, B18D in a PV, originally a B16 but blew up years ago before I bought it.

Is that a one piece manifold?

Hi Arcturus, yes it will be a one piece to replace the two piece, I managed to fracture the exhaust when reversing into the garage, over ground that had not been completely levelled. Expensive mistake!

Permatex Ultra copper for the manifold to pipe joint. Not too much. Manifolds to head shouldn't need any. Tighten enough so it doesn't leak but can move fractionally with the hot/cold cycles. Don't retorque when hot.
Hylomar and similar sealants are for machined faces not for hot joints.

Also before fitting, lay a sheet of fine emery or similar paper on a flat surface and stroke the manifold contact face accross a few times and see if there are any high or low spots where the contact area to head is.
