Firstly, Greetings one and all as always theres someone new and its me for the moment.., Ive had a good scoot through the forums, but have not as yet come across a thread that refers to mud behind the alloy wheels.
In fact I didnt even realise that there was a volvo forum, I had written to the trading standards office about this particular complaint, which in a nutshell is this.
Its winter, there`s mud on these back village roads, thats life, however, having another 4x4 and a saloon car with alloy wheels that do not get this same problem I`m really annoyed.
The car picks up mud on the school trip daily, I wash the car as often as is possible but hands up I dont wash it every single day nor each journey..
(This was suggested by the dealer where I live!)

The mud builds up, and apart from taking the wheels off or having my own garage bay where I can jack the thing up to 5 foot or so to remove the mud I am rather stuck, of course Volvos reply is that they will remove the mud for a charge each time it occurs...what a surprise.)..so with the build up it begins to make the car shudder and shake.

Not at all speeds, but as soon as you reach 58 mph you could whisk eggs without a whisk.
Volvo suggest I jet wash it, which I have done so often paying particular attention to the tyres and behind them as best as is possible, but of course this doesnt work.
After having spoken to various people and being given the run around for 3 weeks now, I am really annoyed.
Apparently no manager can speak with me as they are all busy..and when I asked for the directors name they couldnt give it to me, nor I`m not surprised to say would they forward this complaint to her or him.

The complaint I think is a fair one, one person did say in fact that a few people in my area with XC90s have had similar problems but that they went away!
I suspect this man thought I would...not a chance.
And so to conclude can i ask has any one else had similar problems, or have complained and been told what I have?
I have lived in the country side for years, owned many cars and never has one had such a ridiculous problem for a 4x4..
Oh..I did note other posts on the seats and other peoples back ache probs......
The XC90 seats are rubbish in my opinion, I have neck and back ache in it if I drive too far too.

Oh.. and sorry to rant on my first post..I`m sure there are tons of happy xc90 owners ..I`m just not one of them...
Blah.:angry2:

We have the same problem and have met with a similar response from the local Volvo dealer. What did you do next and did you have any success? We would really appreciate your advice and views.

My email is jrdunn1967@yahoo.co.uk if you would prefer this format.

Many thanks,

Although I haven't had this prob on our XC90, I wonder if it's specific to certain models of wheel??

I have the 18" polished one on mine, and they appear to be quite clean at the back so to speak - I wonder if removing and cleaning the wheels, before applying a few coats of wheel wax would help, in that the mud may not adhere as much??

Just an idea
