Steering squeek on 3 week old S40

My three week old S40 has developed a squeek when turning the steering to a full lock (both left or right). The squeek only happens when the steering wheel is coming close to full lock. Because we are talking about a full lock then it really only occurs at very low speeds -- usually pulling into or out of a parking space.

Anybody got any ideas of what might cause this?

Im dropping the car into my dealer soon for an unrelated matter and am going to bring this to their attention. I would just like to have an idea of what to they should be looking for when they go to diagnose the issue.

Hi,

Power steering? Have you checked the fluid level?
Is it the sort of sound of a tyre rubbing against something?
Maybe CV joints? But surely not on a new car??

Certainly, get the dealer to resolve the issue ASAP.. :)

I don't think you should worry about this... A 3 weeks old car should be sorted free of charge anyway, so Volvo should fix this quickly...

My S40 as most cars does make a noise when turning the steering wheel fully. The noise comes from the power steering motor. It should be discrete though.

They replaced a rubber seal - everything ok now.
