I've posted this here because I don't want to clutter up adamski's thread with the lubricant charts/checklists etc. but I notice from brickboards that a lot of our american cousins seem to be recommending using fully synthetic Amsoil? oilin the auto boxes of the 960.
Does anyone have any opinion on this; also on the use of fully synthetic in the 960 engine?

Hi Alec,

Yes, recommended for both 960/S/V90 and even the 940's..

Have a look at LankyTims thread on his gearbox oil change as it describes the process he went through and how his gearbox is now:
Linky (http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=32438)....

It is mentioned that changing the gearbox oil after 100K miles is a good thing.
Not part of the Volvo schedule - they say check and top-up where necessary.

Des. . . ;)

Thanks for the link Des.
Looking through that thread, it seems a little expensive, but very worthwhile,

When and if I ever get my 960/V90, I think I go that route, even if I have to get my local ind. dealer to do it for me. (No assistance at home, and I'm already in the unmentionalbe for spilling a little GTX magnatec on the brickweave!!)

This link might be worth a look as some of us rate their engine oils, I've only used normal D111 in my auto transmission although it was a mega 20 odd litre flush lol :hissyfit:

I think you will find that Amsoil is cheaper, to a higher spec, available in 5L (cheaper ) and at club a discount. It was actually news to me that Redline had this over here, I did check and it does if you look about.
