How do I get my '66 122 into reverse!?

I just bought a '66 122 wagon and for the life of me I can't figure out how to get it into reverse. I've tried pushing in and pulling out on the stick and i get nothing. Help!

From neutral position, push lever to left against gate spring, then upwards, ie next to first gear but to the left.
