Hi guys I am new to this forum so just saying hello. I have just bought myself an 1996 850 diesel and I am a bit surprised how powerful it is. I have had a couple of T5's before so I know Volvo can make a quick car but I was surprised by the performance of the tdi and was wondering if its been remapped, is there anyway I can tell? I have looked for tuning box type devices and cant see one of those

thank

Dave

I have a later S70 with the same engine. It is pleasantly swift - loads of torque where you need it. And doesn't it make a nice noise (for a diesel)?

It certainly feels like it has more than the 146BHP that it's quoted at but that;s my experience with other diesels too - the extra torque makes them feel more powerful in everyday driving than petrol cars with the same power (BHP) output.

Hi,

I think mines a bit slow-(mabye because of injectors)- i have been driving a s60 d5 before that for a while so it could be me. I had an audi 100 tdi with a similar engine and 110bhp i'm sure that was faster than my v70 2.5D.What sort of 0-60 times do you get?

Thanks,loz

Not sure about 0-60 times but if every day driving it surprises quite a few people.

It's 146BHP - so about 15BHP less than an early S60 D5 or 40BHP less than a later one...

I just wish i could get comfy in mine :(
