I saw this a while ago on the Ford Transit webpage, does anyone know if it is D5 derived, or if it is a completely new engine and even if it's going to make it's way into any of the Volvo Range?

'A powerful new 3.2-litre 5 cylinder TDCi engine delivering 200PS and 470Nm of torque.'

Sorry
The 3.2 is 5 cylinder version of the Engine found in Transits earlier Mondeos & X Type Jags.
Both 4 & 5 cylinder versions are cast iron and very heavy and Ford now only use it in Transits.
The Volvo D5 is an all ally engine much better suited to car use.

Most likely diesel engine upgrade, given that Volvo transversely mount, would have to be a twin turbo version of current D5. Either that or Ford/PAG let Volvo continue with the D6 they were working on a while back.
