Recently inherited a 440GTL from my Gt Uncle. He brought this in 1993 when he was 78.

He has just passed away and only ever having covered 11,000 miles. I plan to keep hold of the old girl.

Only problem is the Alloys look a bit worse for wear. Appart from this the car is immaculate.

I am after alloys that are as new. Can somebody please guide me.

Are there any othe cars out there with the same spec. can I use say 'corsa wheels for example'.

Or can I buy the originals somewhere.

I will appreciate any help from the expreienced.

Thank you

It would be a crying shame to put different wheels on the car, I'd say keep it original and get the wheels refurbished. There's a DIY guide on this forum somewhere if you want to do it on a budget.

Can you post some pics of the car? Would be nice to see it.

Hi leabby

Have you thought about getting them professionally refurbished? (edit - oops - was obviously composing this when ovlov was making reply - must learn to type quicker!!)

Price will depend on how much they have deteriorated, kerbing damage etc., but your talking from about £50 per wheel upwards and will take about a week.

Try link below - put in you car's details to see what they offer. They do a range called 'Replicas' some of which are replicas (surprise, surprise!!) of the manufacturers originals. I got a set of VW Sport rims from them and to all intents and purposes they were identical to the VW supplied wheels, other than they weren't stamped 'VW'.

Obviously you also have the option of other designs / sizes or a second hand set from someone on here of eBay etc., but you need to ensure they'll fit i.e. correct bolt centre radius (PCD - Pitch Circle Diameter), correct (or compatible) width and offset (usually refered to as ET) and correct centre bore to locate on the hub centre ring.

For a 440, the link below (another supplier) indicates (for a 15" rim): -
PCD 4 x 100 mm, offset 35 to 45 and Bore of 52.1 mm

Happy hunting!

Nothing currently available in 4 stud Volvo reps. Even some 5 stud Volvo replica is tricky to get hold of.

I have the latest replica stock list in front of me right now ;)

Can't argue with that since I have no ideal what a 440 GLT wheel looks like or its original size (14" or 15")!!!

Interestingly the (Nebula) Replica for my S60 are on there @ £186 each. Volvo want £480 for an 'original' Volvo / BBS. Know what I'll be buying if I wreck one!!

Well if it happens pm me and i'll look after you :D

Volvo reps are in short supply at the moment though, I've been keeping an eye for something nice for my 850 but nothing yet.

Thanks Guys

Excellent tips and impressed with the replica's. Looks like I can get a near match, thus keeping the car near to original.
