Hi. My '97 V40 T4 just got side-swiped by a bin lorry. Gutted.

Right rear quarter, both right-hand doors and both right-hand alloys have some gouge marks in. Other than that she seems alright, but they're probably going to write it off due to the cost of repair.

They just took it away on the lorry this morning, so I'm still waiting to see what they're going to do. I'll try and get it back and send it in your direction if you're interested?

Sorry for the delay. The valuation people have written my V40 off (no surprise there...), but the insurance company hasn't got back to me with a value yet.

Ok, managed to get somewhere with the insurance company, so I'll be getting the car back soon.

The car is a 1997 V40 T4 CD. The V5 says it's black, but it's actually a very dark green. (The photos don't show the colour very well). Air con, leather seats, electric windows, towbar. Just under 120k on the clock, but the engine was replaced by the previous owner, so it's an unknown quantity really. Lot's of receipts, taxed, and was MOTed before the accident.

Attached are a couple of photos which show the car as I found it after the accident. (Check out the poor S40 behind my car!)

The car drives, but isn't drivable. Neither right hand door open and both right side tyres are damaged. I won't be able to transport the car to you, so you'll have to come down to Bristol to collect it. Still interested?

Good God...were they trying to land the bin lorry? That S40 really got it!

Definately still interested but i'll have to sort out some arangements for a trailer ect, plus it is a fair distance for me to travel, but i'm sure i can work something out.

It's not as badly damaged as i thought it was, which is good, oh and what are you wanting for it?

Cheers

Tom

Ok. I've still got to arrange to get the car back and stored off the road, and then we can discuss dates for collection.

I'm not looking for too much for it. It's recently had a new lambda sensor and fuel pressure regulator fitted (£200 worth) , recently taxed (Aug-09 = £130 worth), and bearing in mind my costs for getting it delivered back to me, I'm looking for £500 to make it worth my while. Is this acceptable to you?

If it is, then let me know and I'll start arrangements to get the car back.

Talking to someone that was around when the accident happened, it sounds like someone was coming down the road at a bit of a lick, and the bin lorry squeezed them into the parked cars. Judging by the amount of debris I'd say that 6 or 7 cars got written off! Strangely they also had to close the road last week to repair a water main at the exact spot my car was parked.

Hi. Sorry, due to impending storage costs I've now scrapped the car.

Hi. Sorry, due to impending storage costs I've now scrapped the car.

I offer my sincerest apologies, for not getting back to you in time. I have been trying to lay my hands on some cold hard cash and trying to find a trailer to hire that isn't bloody pin hitch, but have had no success, also finding the time to get off work has been a major issue in the run up to christmas, ( would need a long weekend off to get down to you by myself).

So once again i apologise for the inconvinience.

Regards

Tom
