I have a Volvo 480 to get rid of. I don't know if it's of interest to anyone. It possibly has more needs than strengths so it may just be handy for spares. I would really like it to go to someone who loves 480's as much as I do. I am studying full-time at present so it's a case of needs must because maintaining it is too expensive.

On the plus side it has good tyres purchased (fronts) April and (rears)September 08 respectively

a new battery purchased June 08

It has had quite a few leads and what not replaced as it has an overheating at a standstill problem the cause of which has not been discovered despite many attempts to and a whole lot of money. It has a newish thermostat
(2007) as a result of this.

it has a lovely racing steering wheel

It has a tax disk until March end 2009 and MOt mid Arpil 2009

The headlights work perfectly. The windows are tricky-drivers one slow but sure. Passengers one something stuck in the mechanism

It drives nicely- I have driven it carefully, it is graceful in that vintage way

It has under 100 000 miles on it. when I got it three and a half yers back the most it had ever done was 5000 in a year.

However..

the braking system needs a complete overhaul

It has no dashboard info-this went down a good two years ago and I could never afford the diagnostics to right it

It has had every external thing pulled off by people who evidently suffer with boredom i.e the front of the offside wing mirror

the radio ariel-hence it has a piece of copper wire in it's place-don't ask me why-mechanic did it?

the rear screen washer jet was also removed for me while I wasn't looking...

the radio is, as a result, on the blink but the tape player works

It has been pranged a couple of times so has a dent to the rear from a very fastmoving mini cooper driven by a very-slow-to brake person rushing to do xmas shopping and once by a fruit lorry rushing to catch a boat which (luckily) only skimmed the wheel arch. Subsequently it was in an insurance catagory especially for drivable write-offs.

It is grey/silver/gunmetally type colour.

I am sad to say I now have a Fiesta to get me through the final year of university. I would gladly have another 480-it's my second, so driving a fiesta is akin to steering a biscuit tin. I plan to have another 480 when I'm working and to find a mechanic who is happy to work on old cars. My father was a an engineer who did up old cars hence my love of them, but not everyone does like working on the older vehicle.

I am really looking to just get something for the remaining tax.

As I said it is probably best for parts now.

Thank you for reading
