View Full Version : 1800: - Tachometer reading incorrectly

Now I've got my 64 1800S running it is obvious that the tacho is reading wrong.

At idle it reads about 2k and at what sounds like 3k revs engine speed its red lining

Have i wired it up wrong or is it time to find a new one?

The germanium transistors do not age well and these tachos are notorious for reading high as they get old. You can of course simply buy another one but that will be a similar age to the one you have and will have an uncertain life expectancy. Your best bet may be to have yours rebuilt by one of the places below. I've not tried any of them

Thanks for the info Andrew. I guess it will have to wait for a while. I'll have to 'play it by ear' until then.
