Check under the carpet from the footwell, could be a leaking heater matrix. And check the waterpump for leaks. No oil in the water and/or white exhaust gasses with a hot engine?

Not always easy to spot a leak, they're less obvious than you may think :o
Squeeze the big hose coming from the bottom of your radiator. If you can hear anything, or better, see anything then you got your problem.
If it only happens when you drive, maybe the leak is somewhere past the thermostat, so that it won't happen when cold.

Early 400,s suffered leaking core plugs from the back of the engine mainly.
with them just weaping , the water ran onto the engine block and the heat dried it up so you did not see any pools of water.1992/93 had this problem,
My 1992 460 had 3 leak my sisters 440 had 2 leak and my farther in laws 1992 440 had 2 leak .
