Hi people.

My Dad's seriously considering selling his 480. He say's it's a shame for it to be sitting in the garage, only going to Asda once a week, with maybe one or two long trips in a month. I was hoping to inherit it, but as a property is top of the priorities, I can't be thinking about another 480.

Basically, my Dad has seen another car he likes-but he's not in the position to be able to buy this other one and then hope to sell the 480, so he's testing the water. He is actually going to test drive this other car Sat, so he wants to see what sort of feedback he gets here.

Ok, the spec:

-1991 480 Turbo, 76k. Full dealer history upto about 57k, then a service at independent garage at 62k, then he serviced himself. He's had it 6 years, so thats not many miles!

-It's got a set of unmarked refurbished Pictors.

-Clear front indicators with clear wing repeaters and clear rear side markers

-New cambelt '06 (miles approx at time 72k)
at same time also had new aux belt, new dizzy cap & rotor arm, 4 new tyres, Turbo overhaul at M.R King (main Volvo dealer), new Lambda sensor, new rear exhaust).

-Recent service (done 400 miles since)

-Just been taxed (6 months)

-New clutch last year (late '08, September)

-Sony CD player (have Volvo original)

-Receipts coming out of his ears!

It's also got the Rainbow pinstripe interior. The dash has cracked as they all do. But other than those things (indicators, radio, 440 alloys), it's standard, and it's mint. No rust on the arches at all, the underside of the car is really really clean. I believe my Dad's the 3rd owner-it was bought by a company who used it for 8k miles to drive their customers about, then it was bought by a Doctor, and now it belongs to my Dad.

There are a few little marks on the car, but it is 20 years old. But I can guarantee this-you will be hard pushed to find another this clean. If I wasn't saving for a house, it'd be mine-but I have to be sensible.

See the attached pics-if anybody does have a genuine interest, feel free to PM me, and I can give you my Dad's number or pass the info on. Oh, it's garaged every night too, and all the dash bulbs light up, no info centre probs, no water ingress, nothing. The engine bay is mint too-he's cleaned 90% of it over the years he's had it.

As i say, drop me a PM if you're interested. He's looking for £1400 ovno.

I notice it has a non-genuine Volvo filter. Is there any reason for this? As you are probably aware the genuine Volvo filter usually has a larger capacity and a valve for maintaining pressure at start up - this can help reduce wear on the engine. Especially important if the car is going to be doing mainly small and infrequent journeys.

It looks great. I hope it goes to another enthusiast on here.

Good luck with the sale

Yes there is: it's what we were supplied with at time of service. Any more problems I may have overlooked?

@ John: thanks for the kind words, we're hoping it goes to an enthusiast too!

They don't come in better condition than that! You should demand full price for such an example. Good luck with the sale...

I reckon the price is 'top-end', but that said it is a 'minter'. Coupled with the fact that good turbo models are becoming more & more rare and that this is going to be one for an enthusiast who will have a real contender for a classic car show winner of the future............................

My bro' recently picked up an 80k odd 480 Celeb' Auto for £1150 off of fleabay if that helps with an idea of price.

Good luck

Just so people are aware, this Turbo is still for sale. It's still at 76k, so has hardly been used since posting initially.

The MOT runs out in July, but has passed the last 6 first time. It's only covered about 1200 miles since the last MOT, so should be no problems this time either. That said, if anybody is genuinely interested (and I mean for real, not just putting a post here), then he's happy to put it through again himself, so a full years ticket on the cards for the new owner.

There are a few spares coming with the car: a spare set of fogs, front indictors (orange ones), boot roller cover, a window mech (can't remember which side), and some other bits and bobs picked up over the years. All these are going with the car, so don't ask if we'll sell any separate!

Any genuine enquiries, drop me a message.

Current asking price: £1300 ovno.
