Hi All
Interested in finding out what componnets fitted to the 1800S/Amazon (my car is a 1967)are common with other cars of the period. We all know this was a common occirance especially when you subconned to suppliers such as Girling, Lucas and Bosch. They wouldnt have gone to the expewnse of developing bespoke parts.
I will start with the front calipers:
DAIMLER
Daimler Double Six 5.3 (1972-Sep 1973)
Daimler Sovereign 2.8 (1970-74) (Not Sovereign 3.8)
Daimler Sovereign 4.2 (1969-Sep 73)
JAGUAR
Jaguar E-Type 4.2 (1968-71)
Jaguar E-Type 5.3 V12 (1971-74)
Jaguar XJ6 2.8 (1969-73) (Not XJ6 3.4)
Jaguar XJ6 4.2 (1970-Sep 73)
Jaguar XJ12 5.3 (1972-Sep 73)
LOTUS
Lotus Elite 2.0 (1973-80)
Lotus Elite 2.2 (1980-82)
Lotus Eclat 2.0 (1975-80)
Lotus Eclat 2.2 (1980-82)

Im interested in the front discs were they common for this period of car? Anything else would Im sure be useful to everyone to allow sourceing of parts (eg Ebay)

Presumably you're talking about the four pot dual circuit front calipers? AFAIK, the three pot calipers used on single circuit Amazons & P1800s were also used on Jag Mk2s.

As for the discs, they will probably be unique to Volvo due to the stud pattern. I know of situations were other discs have been fitted, but I'm certain that they needed machining first.

Daimler Mk2 splines and wire wheels i've heard are straight fits. I think Gordon has them on his although he can confirm this.

For the Amazon/1800 with Girling 3 piston calipers the only cars which had the same ones were the Austin 1800S and the Wolseley 18/85S "Land Crab". The Jaguar ones often get a mention because the pads are virtually the same size and shape. I'm happy to be corrected on this and if anyone has fitted the Jag ones without having to modify/machine or use adaptor brackets of any sort please post pics and details. If you have fitted them using a well engineered method post that. The cost of reconditioning the standard ones is not likely to be much difference to fitting alternative ones, especially if modifications are needed. New discs are the expensive items and unfortunately they are unique. At least they are available even if you do have to exchange them so a new disc can be shrunk on to the hub. Not a cheap or easy job.
You can change to modern brakes. Read through this thread.

The cost comparisons are interesting but you'd need to add the import costs.
They do look good!

Running on this theme, has anyone got the 114.3 x 5 PCD list? IIRC there's some old jap wagons, nissan, toyota, and a couple of yanks, mustang, dodge, but i could do with the proper full list.
