I'm a newbie to the whole Volvo scene....although I own three others, I'm picking up an older model with the old six digit vin and I need to find a chart to determine the year. It is definately a PV544 vin 221166. I'm guessing about a 1963. Any help will be appreciated. I'll have to acquaint myself with the forum a bit better as I'll need some basic parts like oversized pistons and a door handle for sure. Thanks.

Chassisno. 221166 is a PV 544 A model, so first generation (1958-60) - with the number apr. in the middle of production range (196005-295499) it is most likely a 1959 yearmodel.

Of the 544's I own... I have #200613 and it passed the final quality check on 16th of October 1958. I also have #268367 and it was OK'ed on the 15th of December 1960. Thus my guess would be your was produced in summer of 1959. If you drop a note to: Ulla.Bergwall@coor.com with your chassis number, she can pull out the records (from Volvo's archive) to see exactly when your car was produced. She normally takes a week or so to get back to you depending on how busy she is....

I have lots of good 544 parts available and ship all over the world. Drop me a note with a list of what you are looking for.

Good luck,
Chris
