Hi
Just moved down to Wiltshire (1800ES still up North at the moment but will be moving soon). My 1800ES has some rust on the body work and I have been planning to sort it out myself. Now I have a house to gut and rebuild so what little time I had is now spent on the house and will be for the next year or so.

So my question is does anyone have a recommendation for someone in the Wiltshire area for general bodywork and repaint. I don't have the funds for a complete strip and bare metal respray so it will be a case of dealing with the rust, some welding inevitably and then a respray of the same colour.

Any recommendations?

I know this is an impossible question to answer but what sort of cost is a respray likley to be? I think sills, rockers etc were replaced a few years ago and seems to have been done properly so I think (ha ha) that most of the rust is stuff like around the headlights and wheel arches.

Thanks
DuncanS

I've recently had a lot of work done at Phoenix Coachworks near Cullompton in Devon. About 10 minutes distance from the M5.

Their quality of work is excellent. I had my front wings repaired and a massive amount of work to my rear arches and quarter panels. I would definitely recommend them. If you look on their website, you can see what they did to my car.

Speak to Gary, 01884 277802 and please tell him that Adam recommended him. They're really nice people to deal with and love old cars.

Hi swedishandgerman

Thanks for the info. They look like a good outfit. I will give them a call.
Dare I ask how much all that work cost?

Thanks

Hi DuncanS,

I use Austin Watts in Dorchester for my 122S. I've not had my bodywork sorted there as I work on a pennies budget, but I've seen the work he does do on lots of others and it is superb! He's a Mini specialist, but has done two other 120's before so knows old Volvos. He and his son are top blokes and totally trustworthy. Wish I could use them more.

All the best,
