I have just started the restoration of a 67 1800S and as I strip it the more and more work I find. I knew there was a lot of work there but as the car was taxed and had almost a full years mot I was expecting it to be a little better than it is. Anyway, the front wings are going to need to be replaced and the doors are not great either. I also need a boot lid. If anyone can help with any of these parts I would be grateful. There are other parts I will need along the way so if anyone knows of an 1800 being broken this would be a great help. I have been in touch with some contacts from the Volvo Driver magazine but no one can help yet. I'm waiting on Brookhouse getting back to me as I left them a message today. However, I contacted them last year for parts and they never returned my calls or e mail so I was reluctant to try them again.

Brookhouse always seem to be engaged in other calls , never had a problem with Tony Barret (the old volvo man)at Braydon motor company, similar prices and always happy to help, just my experiences:thumbs_up:

I've had the opposite. Always use to use Tony, now I refuse to (nothing to do with his parts, part prices). Brookhouse have been brilliant since I started using them.

I placed an order for just over £800 worth of bits, which he said would take a while to collect before sending out to me. I've had three calls from Simon with updates, and he even sent out a seal I was waiting for free of charge before getting the rest of the order togeather.

Couldn't ask for better service.

Just been on the phone to both Tony Barret and Simon at Brookhouse. To be honest I found them both helpful and ended up chatting to Tony about other classic Volvo's which I own. He knows his stuff, as does Simon. Front wings for my 1800 are £494.50 each from Tony and £552 each from Simon. Tony also has second hand parts which may be of use so that's a bonus. I would recommend both to anyone looking for new parts and Tony if its second hand stuff your looking for. He is much easier to get hold of too. And I'm going for the cheaper pair of wings.

I tried one last phone call today to my local Volvo dealer and managed to get 2 genuine wings for £400 each. I had a part number from Volvo that they put into their system and they will be here in 10 to 14 days. I was surprised when they told me they could get them.

I have not had any dealings with Tony (I am sure he offers a great service) -but I have nothing but the highest regard for Simon as have many others - see:

I am really surprised that your volvo dealer came up with the goods also - good on 'em.

I got Volvo part numbers from Volvo Heritage before phoning the dealer, and they didn't have a problem getting them, so I would think that they should be able to get any part that is listed on the Heritage web site. I have other items I am going to need so I will ask on Monday when I'm in the dealership. I have taken the passenger side wing off today so will get started cleaning up and welding this week. I have new shocks, springs and bushes that I will get done while the wings are off and I will get the brakes done too. I am going to make up stainless steel splash guards for under the new wings and try to stop the muck and water getting in behind them. Bonnet, new doors and boot lid are all going to be stripped back to bare metal over the next couple of weeks by a local specialist. The front seats are due back from the upholsterer any time now as well. Im hoping to have the car on the road by the end of summer and then tucked up for the winter. So far so good.
