Black Egg Crate Grille

Has anyone got a black egg crate grille lying around somewhere?? Just thought I'd ask before buying a new one.

I doubt you'll find one on here just lying about, they tend to sell within minutes if one ever comes up. Best place is usually eBay to spot one, or if you have the money, buy it new from PartsForVolvosOnline or contact Rufe and see if he can price one up for you.

.......i thought it may be safer than those large square holes in the eggcrate grille.........thinking of stones through the radiator....... also what made me think this way is the marks you get on the front of the car when travelling quickly!!!!!............

......glad you like it!..........the spray paint was Acrylic Gloss Black as it matches the Forever Black bumpers ......i opened the bonnet at half height so it was just level with my chest and masked up the entire grill rather than take it off and chance any bolt breakages....i also left on the badge and slant strips...it was really easy with a can of guiness in the other hand......layed sheets across the bonnet and screen to avoid the overspray.......you will be surprised how good it looks when you see your own done......:thumbs_up:

i keep seeing the later models s40s with the egg crates and really do like them but being skint cant justify buying one, so in the meantime i had a bit of a tinker with the original

I used a second hand egg crate grill originally bought from parts for volvos. i took the volvo symbol and cross bar off mine and have glued it on, this is the result

it's a renault laguna lip spoiler - got it from a scrappers.

i know it might be seen as a bit of a bodge/boy racerish but it fits/looks nice and gives the front end a bit of a lower/meaner look
