I noticesd this lovelyhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VOLVO-P1800S-BEAUTIFUL-DONT-MISS-OUT_W0QQitemZ320407460952QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomo biles_UK?hash=item4a99c5dc58&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 red p1800 on ebay but it says the doors need adjusting. Do you think this would be an easy job? Also do you think this would be a good buy in general. It's the best one I've seen on ebay. Thanks.

The car must have been pretty sound before the seller embarked on all that work because there's not much reference to bodywork repairs - apart from the respray.

Starting the bidding at £5.5k he's clearly anticipating a high selling price - and why not, the car looks stunning.

If you're seriously interested you need to go see and drive the car, and at that sort of price, be more than hyper-critical.

A couple of small points are odd - why the non-standard front side/flasher lights, how come, with an 80-hour 'MB / BMW' respray, they didn't get the doors on properly? And how come the engine looks a bit shabby, when the rest looks so good?

For a top-dollar price you'd want a top-dollar car - and the only way you'll really know is to go and have a look. Take with you a healthily sceptical attitude but be prepared to be convinced!

Good luck

Jack

Nice looking car!

Wonder what the chassis number it is?

Seems like a decent price for it based on all the recent work.

My car is of the same vintage, and was nicely restored/repainted by the previous owner maybe 10 years ago - and of course my doors are off kilter a bit as well. They close ok, but the door is so long/heavy and the hinge is just not that beefy - I'm not sure they were ever perfectly flush even from Gothenberg. That whole Scot/Swede thing...
My passenger door sticks out maybe 3mm or so. This guy seems pretty picky, so he's just being very honest about flaws I think.
Wish my SUs were freshly rebuilt from Burlen...
