Saw this advertised in a recent copy of Practical Classics & thought it might be of interest:

It's basically a modern head unit that should (I haven't tried myself, but I'm 99.9% certain it will, as I can't imagine that it won't!) fit straight into the original spindle mount Din-D radio aperture in an Amazon or P1800 dashboard without having to hack the dash. No CD deck, but has all the inputs for USB / aux in etc, and all the outputs for amps etc.

Although not cheap compared to a basic modern head unit, I must admit that I am very tempted!

Strangely enough, I was at a car audio place trying to find a rev counter to fit my p1800 today. they really really wanted me to buy a Becker Retro head unit (for £999) that had satnav and everything.

I didnt buy it of course (I'm quite happy being married).

That Becker is a very smart and appropriate looking piece of kit, but I'm pretty certain that it fits like a regular modern stereo, so would need the dash to be hacked around.
