Just picked up a 440 sxi for my son. It has the Aircon unit in the dash. The blower fan works fine on the A/c max setting ... but when you switch to A/C or to any of the no aircon positions the fan doesn't work at all.

I've swapped the 4 position blower fan switch from another 440 that works, I've checked the fuses (both the A/C fuse and the fan fuse) and I'm assuming that since the fan works in the A/C max position it isn't the fan thats faulty.

Is there a relay I'm missing or is there something else in the circuit that I need to look at?

thanks for any help

Does it have the push button type ventilation unit (the one where you have to push buttons to direct the air)? It's a VEM that controls where the air blows and controls the fan as well. It needs to be removed and has to have a connection on the inside soldered. But being a 440 xsi it might be a later model with the turn buttons...

Thanks. Yes it does have the push buttons. The old thread helps a lot. It would be even better if someone had pictures or sketches to show the layout of the connections that are likely to be faulty?

The 480 europe site is listed on the old thread i mentioned. Here it is:

As the picture shows, look for dry solder joints. You can tell by the cracks on the joint.
