The gear box is in and runs very well, no bulking in to 1st gear which I had when new, in 1989.

I downloaded page 51 from M47 Volvo Green Book which showed an air vent, very small, on the top part of the rear plate. I looked for it on the installed box but it is part hidden by a support bracket. As all components are machine washed before rebuild, this may not have contributed to the oil leak from the rear shaft.

The rear axle vent was loose the other day and totally blocked. It was a length of plastic tube with a brass insert. I got Alex to reinstate this.
