Going right

Tuesday morning I patched the two holes in the exhaust that were pointed out to me. I just ran the engine for a bit to help set the bandages and found it was blowing out of the junction into the rear box, so that got slathered in repair putty as well. Come Wednesday and it went into the garage to be welded and get the new tyres fitted. Then I picked it up on Thursday morning complete with new MOT certificate. There were advisories on the front ASB bushes, right inner tie rod end and the exhaust...

Taxi service

Well as both 240s are going to be needed on Wednesday and Thursday for getting me to work and Mum's taxi service to operate, the head gasket is going to have to wait. There is just too much danger that something will not go back together correctly on Tuesday night. Current plan is to take the head off Thursday evening, have it skimmed on Friday and then have the weekend to get it all back together again.
In the meantime the 1800 is progressing. I painted the tunnel for the rear axle today...

Volvo life

I've driven a Volvo since 1999 when we got our first '86 240GLE estate. Currently the fleet consists of two '88 240GLT estates, one red and one white and a '67 1800S, white. The white 240 seems to be running OK at the moment although I watch despairingly as the rust gradually progresses. The red 240 has just recently blown its head gasket although I am still driving it on short trips. It's burning oil and drinking coolant. I have the parts to do the job, its just finding the time.
