Hi I have a 53 reg v40 td and experience a rattle from the engine when coasting along at approximately 2000rpm or accellerating gently. I have been told that it may be an injector possibly over-fuelling or not injecting the fuel correctly. I used some redex additive injector cleaner in the fuel and drove a further 600 miles but it made no difference. I have also been told that as this is a common rail engine repairs could be expensive. Any assistance would be gratefully accepted. Thank you.

They are actually self-leveling Nivomats at the rear. However, they look a bit old and not sure how good they are. Saying that, the car drove perfectly fine when I drove it back with no odd noises etc.

Apologies, but I just saw your post. Have a look here: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=136600

You can get 4mm 12V bulbs for a fraction of the price and fit them on your heater control panel. Also with regards to the trim, I have it, so if you are interested, let me know

Not too hard. I covered most of the process in this guide: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=127273

Just take your time and you'll get it sorted.

Yes, I am actually using the chinese DICE and had no problem at all reading quite a few S40 and V40s from 1998 to 2004. What exactly is your problem? Maybe try posting in the S40 V40 section http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=17 and see what other people say. What is wrong with your ECU? Are you sure it is not the ECU that is at fault and instead it is a wiring problem. If it is indeed your ECU, then I do have a spare one together with the immobiliser box keys etc.

Why are you using an RS232 adaptor? Not sure if DICE was designed for this. Have you tried using the USB directly to your computer? That should work with no problems.

Can you also let me know what version of VIDA you are using? If by any chance you are using 2012B, then you need to upgrade the firmware of the DICE in order for it to talk to VIDA. I had this problem last time and I had to download "dicefw561.exe" and upgrade the firmware.
