Windscreen wipers

Posted Mar 9th, 2016 at 00:21 by BrianH

The wipers got slower and slower. Almost stopped on a dry screen.
Oiled the linkages
Checked and cleaned the connections.
Must be the motor. 4 bolts to loosen. Drive shaft nut really tight. Instructions say restraint the rotating arm.
Knocked off the driving cable from the wiper shaft!!!
Tried for two hours of fiddling to relocate. Really difficult.
Gave up.
Took it to Alex Smith of Als Motors and got a complementary car. A 960 automatic 3 litre. A limousine.
Could watch the petrol gauge going down, but a lovely drive, so relaxing.
My 245 was sorted with the used motor I had. Now all works. 2 hours Labour at 37 per hour plus vat.
Do watch that cable. Get it wrong I will cost!
