V70 Tyre life

Posted Oct 25th, 2008 at 19:00 by The Doc

I bought the new, highm spec' V70 sept 07 and have had an excellent motoring year. A very comfortable and safe vehicle. I took it for it's first service this week and was appalled to find that the front tyres were illegal.
I am a 61 year old wrinkly with no inclination to boot it around the place. My normal experience with tyres is not less than 25k on Honda Accords and BMW 5 series etc.
I am told by the garage that getting 10k on a V70 is about the norm. Since the next service is in 18,000 miles time this is a croc. I can expect to change the tyres almost twice between services.
What is everyone else's experience?
