V50 issues

My 06 V50 D5 has developed an issue over the last couple of days. Basically sometimes the key fob won't unlock the doors, or it will unlock some and not others. Then when you finally get into the car, and put the key in the ignition, there is no usual clunking sound of the key engaging. I turn the key and the engine emissions light comes on the dash but no other light illuminate and then the wipers start to go on their own accord. I have to turn the ignition off, take the key out and press the unlock button a few times whilst inside the car and then the doors make the clunking unlocking sound and then the car will start as normal when the key is turned in the ignition. There are no other issues and the car drives OK otherwise.
Can anyone help with this issue - I've just spent 400 quid on the car to pass its mot and its got 112000 miles on it and I'm slowly getting to the end of my tether with the car as it seems like more will have to be spent on it, and I'm beginning to think if it's worth it!?

First thing to always check with random electric issues on these is the connections to the CEM. It's above the passenger foot-well and easily upset.

Lots of posts and threads about it on here if you search on CEM...

Check all the electrical connections on it for corrosion and give a clean up with a brush and contact cleaner.

I haven't had any electrical issues but the CEM under the glove box is a culprit for weird electrical behaviour.

"Gave my local dealer in Hull a stone's throw from my work place a call last night, reeled off a couple of references where my car's VIN fell in the given ranges and they quickly confirmed what had and hadn't been done.

I initially suspected that the 'Clutch pedal mechanism fail' (R39247) had been done as a plastic collar had not been properly affixed under the footwell - turns out to be true.

However the 'Fluid may leak into wiring harness which may cause fire' recall (R49221) had not been completed... So er yeah, got it booked in for tomorrow that!!"

Volvo did a free healthcare check on my car while it was in for the recall work and there was a note which read "Corrosion on CEM pin terminal 12" - the recall it was in for (R49221) I believe is related to moisture or water/washer fluid getting onto the wiring harness and thus making it's way onto the CEM.

If you haven't done so I would go on the VOSA website and check if your car has had any necessary recall work done. I was most bothered about the jobs related to the clutch but your local Volvo dealer will do this work for free.
