    Inner tie/track rod end question

Right I think I have finally found the source of my nearside clunking noise when going over bumps at low speed. When I grip the gaiter shown in the picture there is a metallic clunking sound coming from within which I assume is a knackered inner tie rod end?

Can someone with experience tell me if this is a big job to change and roughly what an independent or dealership would charge for this job using genuine volvo parts? I'm assuming that if you do one then you have to do the other too and then get the alignment done?

Reading the forum it seems like aftermarket parts are frowned upon for the front suspension set up or is it ok to use them for the inner tie rod?

Found this 'how to' searching the net and it looks a fairly straightforward job.... http://www.volvoxc.com/resources/how...r-tie-rods.pdf

Not sure about the inner tie, but the track rod end is about £120 fitted.

Part is roughly £60 from Simon.

I changed mine on Wednesday - only lasted 18 months.

Volvo also tell me - worn rear bush on front suspension arm - £220.

Mine clunked & squeaked over bumps but has almost stopped now with the new rod end - sort of dull thud on major bumps now.

My woory is at 100k should I change both suspension arms (presume wishbones are the same thing) or just the worn one - surely the other wont be far behind!

Have read other threads and will use genuine Volvo parts.
