Thanks Ian |
As a matter of interest would a car be marked down for having non standard parts such as after market wheels (if it wasnt entered in the modified section that is) ?

Iain how about 'different' but still Volvo wheels? i.e.wheels that the car was never sold with, but which are genuine Volvo wheels from a different model? Would this still be marked down?

I can see the marking sheet being a popular request (I'd like mine too!)...perhaps some mechanism could be put in place to make this happen without too much hassle for the officials involved?

A Poem to a Volvo
When I was judging the 200 series cars I noticed a plaque with a poem sitting on the windscreen of one of the cars - I thought that the poem was excellent! I asked the author Adrian Raynor-Krill if we could publish it on the forum and he kindly gave his permission!
POEM - OLD VOLVO Through the winter months I’m locked away, To keep the salt and rust at bay, And during this protracted stay, I dream of endless summer days. It seems so far now, back in time, The excitement of the assembly line, Of strange men in a far-off land, Who built me by machine and hand, With leather, plastic, steel and glass, My quality still unsurpassed, And though designs have changed by far, I’m still a really classy car. The warmer days will soon be here, The highlights of the rally year, The dreams, the hopes you have for me, The coming of the BKV, For win or not, it’s plain to see, You love this ageing GLT. The rallies are such fun affairs, The excitement of just driving there, The thrill of the line-up, Of meeting old friends, And winning a class - what a message it sends To those new cars, with their flash and race, That we’re just as good, really, At our more sedate pace. The wax and the polish, the time and the care, The admiring looks - some just stand and stare At my trim and my paintwork which gleams in the sun, The look on your face when you hear that we’ve won! Another award to place with the rest, The photo-shoot with the best of the best. It’s a long drive home and the sun’s getting low, And I wonder to how many more rallies we’ll go. We’re made for each other - I think we both know, For you are my owner and I’m your old Volvo. Adrian Raynor-Krill |
Hmmm, I bet I only dropped a couple of marks:speechless-smiley-6
