I have owned a number of Volvos from the 343 to the XC90 & currently have the 2009 XC60 SE Lux G/T. Each time I consider a new car I check out the competition & return to Volvo as I find it difficult to better the space/safety/value/running costs/suitability for a family equation in comparison with Audi/BMW/Mercedes etc - usually ending up with a reasonable deal once the dealer realises I have tested the others. By the way my father owned 11 Volvos & I am on my 18th - all private ownership - anyone ahead of this?

Don't build them like they used to?

My last four cars have gone Merc, Volvo, Merc, Volvo. Is there a pattern developing there ??'

Absolutely. So far I am thrilled with the car!

So far I owned 2 VWs (Golf and Passat), 2 Toyotas (Yaris [still is my wive's car] and Avensis) and the XC60 is so much better in every aspect.

Sorry to hijack this thread! Darbs, if you get an upgrade let me know what you have chosen ;) I am in the same boat, I am thinking about getting the new yaris and I am also toying with the idea to get her a C30. What she is really looking for in the 'supermini' class is the high sitting position (good view) and top maneuverability/ability to park in tight spots as she is constantly travelling in the city centre.
