The cards are the easy way to prevent overspray, saves all that masking tape which takes ages. I painted with primer and lacquer, the original colour is a lighter grey than the primer I used but I doubt it will ever be noticed (unless someone from this forum looks in the spare wheel well)

I knew there was a use for the space under the 850 spare wheel lid.

I managed to get hold of yet another remote fob, this time it looks to be one that's been sitting in a drawer for a couple of decades and has never been used. This allowed me to do a case swap for my fob that was missing the leather strap. I would have liked to keep the button pad that has the script on it but unfortunately the contact for the PCB is different and not interchangeable between the two so I had to use the original non-script pad.
https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1596275127 I now have a couple of remote fobs surplus to requirements. the one with the script on the front I'm almost certain is unused (but in my old case) and working perfectly but would need programmed to your car, the other has no battery cover and you would need to find one therefore sold as spares only. If anyone is looking for a remote let me know https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1596275127 https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1596275143 |

Just back from a short vacation and my neighbour handed me a parcel that was delivered when I was away.

Fitted the rest of the mats today only to find out that my 23 year old carpets needed a clean when seen against the new grey of the mats. The rear tunnel and rear driver side footwell were looking a little dirty with passengers muddy feet getting in and out. I used a steam cleaner and a cloth to remove the ingrained in dirt and I suspect this is the first time the carpet has been cleaned as there was no soapy residue in the carpets from previous cleans.
The rubber mats had left some marks along the edges where they had sat on the carpets for the last 23 years so the steam cleaner managed to lift most of the pile back up and make it look more respectable. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1597330421 https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1597330421 https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1597330421 https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1597330421 https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1597330421 https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1597330421 https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1597330421 https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1597330421 https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1597330421 https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1597330421 |

Managed to find some genuine 850 cross bars so now just need to work out where to position them on the rails

Looks great! Love seeing the updates

John, those rails I believe are from a V70 1999 to 2000 model with the thicker rails. The 850 and earlier V70's had the thinner rails, or has your car got the later rails on?
