Not that I'm aware Dean, according to the accessory brochure these bars fit several different models including the 850 estate

Thanks Peter, I'm just trying to keep the old wagon as factory original as possible. Being an n/a model they are not as popular as the turbo models and getting thin on the ground now so really need to be preserved for future generations to enjoy. I doubt there will be many as original as this one now so preservation is a priority

Crikey O'Reilly that's all looking so so clean and tidy, what a tremendous effort sir!

You must have serious patience to do that funky pattern with the hoover wowsers.

Patience!!! me? never according to my wife. The joy of having a car that's been cared for and carpets that still have that new look to them, just vacuum all the pile in one direction then do the stripes in the opposite direction

Well that's the first time I have ever heard of the 850 having the thicker rails from the factory! You learn something every day. Those thicker rails do fit the 850 but I was sure they didn't come out until the first V70 cross country in 1997. If it is original then you have a very rare example. Even the first V70's all had the thinner rails except for the cross country, then in 1999 they all had the thicker rails. I'm not trying to be pedantic by the way.

You have a fantastic example and as you say, it will hopefully be a museum piece in a few years time and will be a very desirable and simple car to own and run. Keep it up, I love it 👍🙂

Yesterday was the last time of 2020 the 850 will be on the road. I've decided to put it on SORN until the better weather next year.

Dean, I've been pondering the roof bars and think they are the thin ones as you mentioned.
I was wondering if you could measure the depth of your bars to allow me to compare please?

When I fitted the cross bars they never tightened up fully as in if I put a lot of force onto them they moved ever so slightly. I'm unsure if the reason is worn/compressed rubbers on the feet of the clamps or if my roof bars are just a bit on the narrow side, so I cut 4 rubber pads about 3mm thick to shape and now the cross bars are solid and I can't budge them.
