Interesting that you bemoan the depreciation on your old S80 but are quite happy with the £17k loss in less than a year on the S90.

Car buyers eh? :(

I think I was stating the most the dealer would offer me for my car was £4500 but the next day it`s up on their forecourt at £7500 ,there`s was up at £29990 and they didn`t drop it a penny and wouldn`t budge. Their car was a launch model put in by Volvo with almost every extra available ,they conceded that no one would probably ever spec a car like this and they wanted rid asap

Ok, well given that you weren't inundated with higher offers for your old car, it sounds like the dealer offer was reasonable and given that you didn't find an equivalent of your newer car for less money, it sounds like you once again got a reasonable deal.

The dealer can now ask any price they want for your old car because they are the owners and they will need to factor in a decent margin to mitigate against the often unreasonable expectations of buyers of used cars.

You've had your chance to maximise the sale price of your old and minimise the purchase price of the new and no one has forced you to do anything so I don't know what your problem is.

Just enjoy the car.
