Very nice. That's a "Funky Chateau".

Hi Jeff

Great car, but I'm more interested in what you are pulling there. I need to get an alternative to a full-on caravan and I like the look of your's

what make is it - i'll do a bit of googling

thanks

Billy - for interest its a trailer-tent. I've had two over the years and strangely the first rode far better than the brand new we followed it up with. The latter gave a very yumpy ride, as if it had failed shockers, but it didn't have shox! To this day I wish I still had the early one, especially as we re-canvassed it when it was so perished it began to leak. It ended up with Glastonbury tourists.
If you find one you like, ask for a test-tow over less than perfect roads (thats easy....) and ask a technical question, like does it have rubber-in-torsion suspension. My first had Indespension trailer stub-axles like I have on my home-made box trailer, and that rides fine too, empty or full. As I've had that for well over 30 years and its still fine that must say something.

Thanks Paul - yes, it's a trailer tent I'm after. I've done a small amount of research and it seems Conway are favourable? There's also some debate about dampness under the sleeping compartments with 'sides' are not elevated. The main thing is, they tend to be about a third of the weight of a 'normal' 4 berth caravan and are much easier to move around by yourself. I'd need to get a towbar put on my 144 and i noted your comments about using the bumper bracket holes for spread of load

Cheers

Thanks Jeff!! okay, so that looks to be in fantastic condition for a a 51 year old!!

They are lovely, I've got the itch now but I see they are relatively rare?

Billy - a bit like caravans and motor-homes this time of year I fear. If you can wait until autumn/winter those without storage space or needing cash may advertise theirs.
For interest our second was made by Dandy from the Wigan area I think, but I read they had succumbed or been bought-out.
