Older cars can take the thicker oils - they are designed around it and the tolerances were built around it.

I'd probably still want the 0w for the winter but 20 grade at high temp is very thin and as an engine loosens up you can experience this small loss of oil. ow-30 is in all honestly what I would use in your car and in a warmer climate maybe 5w-30.The low ash is as you say a reason for the 20 they say, but will the oil pump cope with a 40-50 weight. 30 shouldn't push it too much

How easy was the EGR removal to do?

Just software update for disabling EGR and DPF but for the DPF they had to drill a hole through it as well.
These cars (if you in the future buy one) will have EGR issues if you drive mostly in the city, same with DPF if you won't take +100km trip weekly.
It toke approx 6 hours them to finish the whole software change (remapping etc) and to drill the DPF, I've been happy with it.

New DPF would have cost +4000€ since whole exhaust would be changed, not just the DPF. This car has previously had EGR issues (every 150k km the box has been changed) so disabled it because of that, it also dropped my liter per 100 kilometers from 6l/100km to 4l/100km :)


I think I'll go try to change these 5w-40 oils I got to 5w-30 Mobil ESP oils, I think those will be just fine for the car. Though its DPF compatible so it's not gonna cover the engine that much :I
