Having had a decent look on Vida, I'm of the opinion that no it isn't possible to change your headlights on a V60 using an offline Dice and Vida so what I'm selling will be no good for that particular purpose.

Vida 2014d works on Windows 7 Professional but there are other ways of having Vida for free.

There are 3 buying options.....

Option 1
£85 cash on collection from Crewe in Cheshire or from the 3 x Cheshire M6 service areas (Keele, Sandbach and Knutsford) north or southbound.

Option 2
£95 delivered to mainland UK (Inc. Northern Ireland)
Paid via PayPal friends and family only.

Option 3
Highlands, Islands, Republic of Ireland, Europe and everywhere else is £85 for the Dice/Vida plus you pay the cost of whichever delivery service you choose.
Total paid via PayPal friends and family only.

Hi CheshireD5 (I can't send PMs yet!),

I'm in need of a VIDA / DICE unit ASAP to diagnose an Engine Service message on a 2012 XC90 that I just bought.

I'm in Warrington close to M6 J22.

Do you have any in stock please, and is there somewhere we can meet in person?

Thanks,

Lee

The meeting options are in the first post of this thread although with my shifts and it being half term, I'm unlikely to be free for several days so the posting option is your best bet.
You would still need a suitably specced laptop setup correctly to load Vida so if urgency is key, meeting a local member with Dice and Vida would be better still.

Having said all that, you've just got the car, I assume it's been serviced so check the oil level. It may just need a little draining/sucking out.

fullerlee Oct 26th, 2016 15:01

Oil is on or slightly above max - seems like that might be the problem.

However the dealer I bought it from has said he'd pay for a diagnosis so I'm going to take it to Hallmark Volvo in Stockport.

I'll probably get back in touch at a later date - it would be handy to have my own VIDA/DICE for any future problems.

Thanks,
Lee

Oil should be 2/3-3/4 max so yes it's overfilled.
Check your seller will also pay for draining.

Hi,
If they are still available and likely to work on a '99 V70 tdi, I'd like one please. I'm unable to PM due to membership status so please let me have payment details, thanks.

Another laptop had Windows 7 home edition. I couldnt even start the Vida installation on this. Tried installing a Virtual Box and XP mode but then for whatever reason installing XP mode corrupted the soundcard. I'm not making this up. It had been the bane of my life for the last week. I was merely replying to your comment saying its very simple which IMO it really isnt.

Thanks.

Im surprised no one has mentioned making another partition and installing windows 7 pro. this would give you 2 operating systems. use your normal windows 10 but when you need to use Vida boot into windows 7 pro. :animal-smiley-037:

I have similar on my laptop and works well.
I also dual boot my mac. I can still run my older parallels VM on Mountain Lion with XP running inside for the VIDA.

I have the updates turned off for the OS running VIDA as well, to stop any problems

Any problems caused by updates are easily remedied so I wouldn't worry too much about that.
I use Vida on my fully updated day-to-day laptop without issue.

Hi - my name is Chris. We have XC70 from 03.2016 - end of production run. Will this VIDA software and Dice connector work with our car?

Thank you.

The great weather coming up will be perfect for car fixing but the double Bank Holidays restrict postage and delivery so I'd order sooner rather than later.
Dice and software £100 delivered.
Dice and laptop £245 delivered.
Both prices are UK mainland.

Hi cheshired5,
Is there any way I can print out a repair list direct from Vida so I can have it to hand when trying to sort a problem with a C70's windows?

When I try to copy and paste into MS Office/Word 2016 it drops the pictures. (NB I've tried all the normal past settings - it still drops the photos/diagrams.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Alan

Hi Alan,
My suggestion would be to copy and paste the words into the Word document as you've done then click on each diagram individually in Vida to open them then right click on the opened image and save as a picture to your pictures folder.
You can then insert the pictures at the relevant points in the word document.
Hope that helps.

Thanks cheshired5 - that's what I have been doing up until now - I just wondered if there was a faster more efficient work round that you knew of - thanks again for all the support over the last few years - it really is appreciated.
Thanks again
Cheers

Do you already have Vida?

ma77y Jun 5th, 2019 14:25

Thanks for the reply. I had it but had trouble sourcing a win 7 pro laptop sold it along with dice.

Looking to get it again as like to do all my own jobs on car so would come in handy.

With an additional subscription (expensive), you can install software to activate a genuine Volvo parking sensor installation but the official installation itself is very detailed and unlikely to be a wise option DIY.
Vida contains the full process though.

Much as I enjoy DIY, if it was my car, I'd be approaching a main dealer.

Windows 7 pro 64bit

Hi does this work on a laptop with windows 7 pro 64bit?
Also can it calibrate a new steering angle sensor, I need to replace mine, thanks

Yes it installs easily on 7 Professional.

A new SAS needs a software download so I'd be leaving that to a main dealer.

cheshired5 Jun 18th, 2019 13:24

Now with SSD included

All laptops will now be fitted with a 120GB SSD for an even faster experience.
The price will increase slightly by an additional £5 which is much less than the cost of the SSD upgrade.
Even higher capacity SSDs can be fitted for a little extra and for less than cost price.
240GB SSD + £15
480GB SSD + £35

Anyone who paid more for an SSD upgrade from me previously has been refunded the difference.

All laptops run Vida 2014d natively on Windows 10 Pro, have 4GB RAM and can be used as everyday laptops when Vida isn't required.

In Summary:
-New, tested and guaranteed working Dice with full installation support £100
You must already have a suitably specced laptop for this option

-Vida 120GB SSD laptop on its own £150

-Vida 120GB SSD laptop with a new, tested and guaranteed working Dice £250

These are delivered prices to the UK mainland.
Europe and the rest of the world cost extra.

Software/Unit

Hi chesired5,

Sorry, I don't have enough posts to pm you.

I was looking to purchase the vida software & dice unit only.

I will be installing it on a Acer dual core 1.8ghz, win7 pro 64 bit laptop with 4gb memory, clean install.

Looking for this asap, as engine service light (red warning) has come on twice in last 10days (it initially disappeared, now currently on). Car was serviced by Volvo 4 weeks ago & done 300 miles since!

Many Thanks

jora1981 Jun 23rd, 2019 01:45

Hi, all done!

Vida and DICE success!

My srs light came on just before MOT time, joy. After searching this forum found this post.Cheshired5 supplied me with the full kit very promptly and provided with all the information to install the software on my computer and to use the DICE reader to read and modify the modules on my vehicle. He also provided me with extensive and effective support during this process. The software ran without any difficulty and the fault cleared, so now off for any early MOT. I can recommend this purchase to anyone, even those who are not wholly computer literate. Great service great product.
