I got a code from Volvo and found the same code written on the coding page of the owner's manual. But its not the correct code.

Local dealer says that the radio must be bad and it needs to be replaced.

Most likely, the radio has been replaced and the database is incorrect, but I cant get and answer...

What was the cut the diodes trick? Will it work on the SC-811 radio?

Thanks.

ekaftan Oct 23rd, 2010 17:17

I am still in shock. After 2 days of frantically search the web, calling dealers and emailing code-givers on the net, I found the code stenciled inside the ashtray.

And it worked on the first try...

Protecting radio code

Hope this is not too far off thread - I have mislaid my code, but I know I will find it in time. However, I need to carry out some maintenance requiring battery removal (detailed in another thread). Is it OK to connect another battery in parallel throughout the process, so system is still live, or are there other implications of which I should be aware?

hawkinm Nov 24th, 2010 20:38

Depends if you are removing the battery to gain access or if you are working on other electrical equipment which would make it a safety consideration.

myshed Nov 30th, 2010 14:57

Sorry for delayed response - access only - no electrical work to be undertaken

Looking for a radio code for a 2000 S40

Please can you help me finding a radio code for my original Volvo radio in my mk1 2000 reg S40 GDI
This is an Irish car reg 00 KE 6488.
I have sent the VIN to FRF Swansea using the online form after reading the advice not to put it here publicly.

Simon, if you see this, please can you let me know if you received my VIN correctly although I am not sure if you will be able to get a radio code for an Irish car. I tried to send it as a message through the forum but it was not possible as I do not have enough posts.

Thanks for your help!

jarmstrong001 Dec 7th, 2010 14:05

Thanks very much for providing this code Simon!

Hi Simon

I think you better of contacting volvo dealer! I've been given my code within 2 minutes free of charger! What they need is just a number plate registration.

:)

avuse31 Dec 30th, 2010 18:54

Hello, I tried my local Volvo dealer and they wanted £15.00 for the code! Which dealer did you use? Do you have their phone number please. Cheers Simon

Hi there, i had the same problem!

A. You can goto a volvo dealer and get it unlocked but they may charge you or...
B.Do what i did and hope your as lucky!!!....I simply pulled out my radio and it was written in pen on the serial number sticker, obviously someone had noted it there when having this problem before!

Just a quick message to thank Simon (Rufe) for supplying me with the correct code. I had to leave the ignition key in the "1" position with the radio on for 2 hours to reset it so I could enter the code.

Thanks again it worked a treat

Inputting code

Probably a stupid question but, to input the code do you press the 1 -6 keys by for example code no 2345. Press preset key 2 then key 3 then key 4 then key 5. Or is it like my last car. you press preset key 1 twice then key 2 three times etc
My unit is a 700 by the way

Hope you can clarify for me

Please!!!!!!!!!!

migrator Mar 22nd, 2011 08:43

Phone or visit any dealer. Armed with the car registration number they can supply the code for the original radio unit fitted to the car. Some may charge up to £10.00 for the info but most no longer make the charge since it is less than 30 secs on the PC.

Rufe Mar 22nd, 2011 15:07

Just a quick note to anyone who is waiting for a code from me at present, but I apologise for not being as quick to reply as usual but I am literally inundated with enquiries and I am working through them all as quickly as possible.

I will reply to everyone as quickly as I can but I simply can not reply to everyone in the usual time. This is because of a number of factors out of my control, computer systems being down for over two weeks, people being off from our department at present, and simply being very busy here, etc

As Migrator says any dealer can do this, but if they decide to charge you then you should approach me for help, but at present you may get a faster reply trying locally first. (some dealers charge around £30 for the code I have been told!).

Also, when radio codes found from registration numbers do not work I can find alternative codes from the serial number and model number, but again all dealers can do this as we all have the same systems regardless of what you get told , so again it may be an idea to try locally. Any problems then you should approach me. Usually I would not say this, but I have a VERY large list of people waiting for radio codes, and also an even larger list of people waiting for parts prices.... I hope to clear everything as quickly as possible, but please bare with me.

By the way, posting the details here will not usually get a response from me. For the reasons mentioned above I do not come here looking to add to my work load I am afraid, but if you follow my parts webform I will reply when I am able to:

http://www.frfvolvo.co.uk/mo-volvo-parts.asp

(I can not give codes to anyone outside the UK.)

Many thanks for your patience!

Rufe :)

Annoyed with Volvo

Hello all!

I have a Volvo T4 s40 ..HU-605 unit id rather not replace it.i would make my day if you could help me out here.
I called volvo this morning and they wanted to charge £18 for the code..i tryed to convince them to give it to me but they wouldn't, its left me quite annoyed...anyway if you can help me that would be so amazing i cant tell you..anyway the details needed are as follows:

Anti theft code (sticker on top of unit) 0292

VIN: YV1VS37691F63069

once again thanks, i really dont want to be ripped off by volvo for a 9 year old (great but still 9 year old) unit.

docoey Apr 8th, 2011 04:07

can you help me with my code...1999 v40

much thanks

bobbych May 12th, 2011 18:03

unfortunatly, it seems Rufe is no longer giving out the codes anymore, so anyone looking will have to visit the dealer. Thanks for all the codes in the past:thumbs_up:

Rufe May 13th, 2011 10:57

Hi,

I am still giving out codes where required. Unfortunately I have given more codes to you in one year than I am actually comfortable with doing (more than 10), so in order for me to carry on supplying members here with radio codes I will limit the amount of codes I am giving to any one person. I have to draw the line, this service was for helping individuals on here who were struggling with finding a code from their local dealer for their own cars, not for people buying and selling multiple units I am afraid.

Sorry about that Bobbych.

Simon

bobbych May 13th, 2011 11:13

No problems, I understand your reasons. But all I can say, is I am sure I have not had more than 5 from you, and all the ones I get, I sell to members on here, as hacked units, so they all benefit members of this forum.
