HK sounds

Lovely looking car, I hope you enjoy. Interested on your comments on the HK sounds. I have a V60 on order, company vehicle, one of the few extras I've gone for is HK sounds. Got It in my current V60 and it's 'OK' but the base system was awful in my opinion. Music quality is a big thing for me in my motor.

I don't think any volvo has had an awful sound system since the Philips unit in the 340 !

I take it you found the equaliser in the menu system ?

Yes had a play around with settings when I had a demo car, made uprated sounds the first tick on the extras list. I'd come from an Audi A6 with BOSE, maybe I'd been spoilt. The base sounds in the new V60 are very good, and I liked the equaliser pre-set options.

I know I'm talking XC90 here, but for what its work, I have the base system + subwoofer, the HK system wasn't available in 2016. I was always pretty impressed with the base + sub setup, and to a large degree still am. However, I once sat in the back of the car and realised the downfall of this system, the sound is lovely and full of body and range in the front, but very flat and dull from all the rear speakers (rear doors + speakers above tailgate). If you fade the system back to try and give more to the rear, you can hear the depth and body in the sound drop right away. So you can have it sound good (to my ears at least), but it is very front bias.

The MY19 XC60 HK sound system has a specially tuned sub-woofer system that is apparently “built-into” the SPA chassis rather than using the previous route of just putting a typical big black box called a sub-woofer in the boot space.
I believe it is this feature that allows the current XC60 to have a much improved handling of sound ranges as the improved Base from the sub-woofer allows the door speakers to be better used for mid-range frequencies rather than their more normal mid-range & base frequencies.

I'm very impressed with the standard system in ours. Had to cancel our trip to World Museum so no long trips yet. So my review may be delayed.

Lol. Just ordered a printed one as I hate using pdfs. Wifey been driving it but I have a trip now planned to London next week so will be in a position to say more then. Only observation is its very quiet, very smooth, very thirsty lol. Makes my Golf GTi seem like an economy car. But early days with less than 200 miles on the clock.

Must admit that I love reading the manual on my iPad in the Books app as it’s so easy to search and directly go to a section directly, and the way the page links work.

I have now done just under 600 miles in 2 weeks with an average of 27.5 mpg which I expect in time as the engine loosens up should head northwards to 32 mpg ........ but ......... with a run in engine I expect my right foot to me more flexible in a downwards direction so will probably end up at 29.9mpg by Xmas which will be much as I expected anyway!

When I think of petrol v diesel I keep coming up with the following phrases / words
Quieter
Smoother
£3400 cheaper
Not the fuel of Satan

Ours is too reading around 27. I'm expecting long term economy to be circa 30.

As we had to cancel our trip to Liverpool and the bike show tomorrow it will have to wait until Tuesday before we take it for a run to the V&A.

Yes I can see the advantages of the iBook but I do like thumbing through a book; and Mrs C wouldnt know where to start. She has trouble using her kindle :D
